Thoughts! What powerful things these are — our thoughts. Sometimes we relegate our thoughts to some vague bit of information that pops into our mind and then disappears. Oh, but they are so much more powerful than that.

All those words and ideas that flow through our minds can shape our lives and drive us toward success and happiness — or failure and distress. How you think has a major effect on what happens in your life. Your thoughts can determine how well you perform and whether your goals and aspirations will have a positive outcome. When you maintain an optimistic outlook and make an effort to harbor only positive thoughts, you begin to create the circumstances conducive to achieving what you desire.
Positive thinking can help you to feel like you truly have control of your life. Those daily challenges won’t be nearly as overwhelming because you will believe that there will be a positive conclusion. Staying positive does not mean that you ignore difficulties or disregard limitations. Instead, it means spending time focusing only on the thoughts that are conducive to your well-being and progress.
Do you want success in your life? A good way to help that happen is to think positively. When you feel more certain of your worthiness — when you know that success is within your grasp — you’re much more likely to approach life’s challenges in a relaxed manner and look for solutions rather than dwelling on problems. You’re more likely to imagine positive situations or outcomes and disregard the thoughts related to giving up, failure, or roadblocks. What the mind expects, it finds.

I’m probably making this all sound so simple — it is — and it isn’t. Sure, you need to do some work to develop a positive mindset. It’s not in our nature to think positively, it takes practice. Whenever you notice a negative thought coming into your mind, make a conscious effort to immediately replace it with a constructive, optimistic one. Be persistent with this and you will condition your mind to make the switch from negative to positive more easily.
As I said at the beginning of this article, you have the power. The power to be as happy, content, and successful as you make up your mind to be. Staying positive may not have an immediate effect on your situation, but it will likely have a profound and instantaneous effect on your mood and the quality of your experiences. In order for positive thinking to change your life, it must become your predominant mind-set.
When you start having good thoughts — when thinking positively becomes a habit — you’ll see your self-confidence grow by leaps and bounds and you will believe that you have the power to to achieve what you want.
