Im going to be taking a bit of time off over the next couple of weeks, so I may not be able to post here as often as usual. I still want to continue our discussion about “The Secret”, so do keep checking in. Also, as I mention a little later on in this post, there are ways you can be notified whenever I do update the blog.

I’m also going to leave the picture of the new butterfly on today’s post — well — just because I like it so much. It’s such a powerful view about what can be accomplished — no matter what the circumstances — if we just don’t give up. Sort of like “The Secret”, isn’t it?

If you’ve been following along with this blog, then you now have a real “leg up” on how to make things happen in your life. You know there is more to all of this than just wishing and hoping. You know that there are three principles that have to be met for the universe to provide what you desire.

Let’s take an example — and I’ll use myself and one of my desires to talk about these principles in more detail.

As many of you know, I’m not a young man. I recently celebrated my 73rd birthday. So, my desires for life may be a lot different than yours because the “things of life” for an older person are, perhaps, not as ambitious as those for someone in their prime.

With that in mind — I have a desire to make enough extra money each month to pay a couple of regular monthly obligations — and I’d like to have them paid off within the next few years. So, you see, I’m not seeking to make a million dollars. A good part of the reason is because I do understand the three principles. I not only need to ask for what I want — I also need to take action and that action needs to provide a value to others sufficient enough for others to want to provide me with the extra money. I also know that my ability to take an action may be hindered somewhat by the energy level of someone my age.

So, I ask the universe to please provide me with enough extra money each month to pay these bills down. I also include in my request the desire to learn “How” to go about doing that — (I’m not putting the dollar amount here, although I do ask for a specific amount of money in my actual request.) I might say something like, “How can I make an extra $XXXX dollars each month? I know it’s possible for someone like me to do this, because I see others doing it.”

Once I’ve framed the request, I will keep focusing on that question of “How can I do this?” Since I already know about the other two principles, I’ll be on the lookout for clues and ideas of how to get this done. I know I’m going to have to take some sort of action — I know that action is going to have to benefit some people — so I have to stay focused and be alert to the answers that will be provided.

The ideas will start to flow. I might begin to notice people around me who are making extra money each month and see how they’re doing it. In my own life, I’ve begun to notice some new, and exciting ways to generate more income by marketing other people’s products for small dollar amounts. I’ve found a way to do that by taking part in forums that parallel my own interests.

I’ve also discovered that using video and audio in my marketing efforts is beginning to pay off. Sure, I need to practice these new skills — and I need to keep my focus on this goal uppermost in my mind. Those videos and audios have to show those who see them or listen to them that there’s something of value to them in what I’m offering. If they don’t see the value, or I don’t communicate the value clearly, they don’t buy, So, I also have to be sure that I’ve picked my market carefully and not try to market Internet Marketing products to a group of pet owners looking for ways to train their pets.

Remember, that you won’t get what you want just by thinking about it. If you just think about it without knowing that you need to be taking some action, your wishes may just be floating away. Be prepared to do something of value to get what you want. You won’t get more in your life by being lazy.

I know that for myself, I need to keep my desires within the ability of my energy. I have a lot of it for someone my age - but it still isn’t what it was a few years back. Nothing worthwhile is ever accomplished without paying a certain price for it. The saying, “You get what you pay for!” is true, especially when you know “The Secret”. When “The Secret” doesn’t work, it’s usually because people aren’t willing to pay the price.

What did you think of that video I left for you on Friday? I know, it wasn’t directly related to “The Secret”, but it certainly did have a message that was heartwarming — and in many ways gave a sense of value. I hope you enjoyed it. Now, let’s get back to our discussion of “The Secret” and our venture into the principles that will make it work for you.

Are you making as much money as you want? Unless you’re a very rare person, I’ll bet the answer is, “No!”

If that’s the case, then in order to increase your income, what you need to figure out is how to create more value in what you’re doing to make money — and then you need to take the next step — and that’s to let people know that you’ve added value to what you were doing.

This added value might be a new set of ideas that you’ve come up with — or it could be a new or improved product that you’ve created — or maybe you’ve figured out a way to provide an even greater service than you were before — or it might be as basic as letting people know that you’re willing to work even harder for them.

Also, always keep the principles of “The Secret” in mind — giving of this added value must come about because you took some action. You probably won’t take that action — or even have a clue as to what action to take unless you’ve focused your mind — your heart — your being — on whatever it is you want — and asking yourself how to go about getting it — which will let the universe know that you’re looking for it.

Forwards, backwards — however you look at these principles — it will always boil down to the inclusion of all the principles. If you’re someone who thinks that all you have to do is just wish for something — or — as it has become more popular to say, “Put it out to the universe” — and then sit back without taking action and making sure that action has value to others — then all I can say is, “Good luck!”

Speaking of good luck — that may happen from time-to-time — it happens to all of us where something just drops into our lap when we haven’t given anything of value to get it. I know that there are hundreds of people who have learned about “The Secret” and will tell all their friends that “The Secret” really worked for them when they have some coincidence happen in their life. Those “happenings” are wonderful but there is still something left for you to do when you receive them — there is still a price that needs paying.

Look at all the people who have have experienced winning big money in the lottery. A good percentage of them end up broke again after some time. Those who have done studies on this have found that many of those who lost it all didn’t use their windfall to give enough value to others. Most of it went in pursuit of more “things” for themselves — the fulfilling of selfish desires.

I remember a show on TV some time ago — I think it might have been the Oprah Show — where as an experiment, a homeless man was given $100,000 dollars. They just gave it to him — no strings attached. Even though he did get off the streets for awhile — even though he did some good things for members of his family, he ended up as broke, hopeless and homeless as he was when he first received the windfall. In order for that “gift” to have brought him out of where he was in life, he had to find ways to add value to his life and to the lives of others. I know my take on this was that he didn’t really want the benefits of this gift. He didn’t ask for it — he didn’t take any action to get it — and there was little value given on his part to earn it.

Another way to look at this phenomenon is to look at how people are buying luxuries today. Big-screen TVs is one example. People are buying these expensive televisions with borrowed money. Yes, they end up with the TV in their home — but they have to pay a premium for it — they have to pay the interest on the loan, or the credit card debt, in addition to the price of the TV. If they had saved up for the TV and paid for it in full with money they earned by giving value, the price would have been lower — no interest charges.

The price for our desires is that we have to give something of equal or better value if we want to receive that desire. Whether the price is time, money, work, experience, education — whatever — that’s how “The Secret” works, it always has — and it always will.
