“Fears are nothing more than a state of mind”
~~~ Napoleon Hill
Have you ever felt like you were really losing it? Or, better yet, have you ever gone through a period in your life where you had that, “I’ve completely lost any resemblance of the person I thought I was!” Not only did you lose “It” — you also lost “You”!
I know I have — on both those counts!
Here’s what we all need to be telling ourselves — “You Are Not Crazy!”
There probably isn’t one person reading this who doesn’t feel a little crazy from time to time. When we get into periods of high stress it’s only natural to feel like we’re losing it. This can also happen when we’re being surrounded by people whose values are quite different from our own. Think back to the times when you’ve lost a relationship that was significant. Or, how about any of those times when you’ve moved into an entirely different life situation. Did you feel a bit off kilter then? I’ll bet you did.
Let’s face it — when we’re here on this planet — in this life — we’re going to learn that “stuff” happens! And, when “stuff” happens it’s going to have some affect on our mental stability. Goofy things will start to occur — like having absolutely no idea where in the world you put the car keys — or — wondering if you’re seeing the same thing as others when everyone around you seems to see the world differently than you.
“Perfectionism is a dangerous state of mind in an imperfect world”
~~~ Robert Hillyer
What can we do to get through these times?
For most of us, the key to survival at times like these is to step back, take a few deep breaths, and regain our composure. Then we can decide what course of action to take.
Don’t hesitate to take a time out. If something in your life is making you feel out of it, take a day off from whatever is causing it. Just do something different than the norm. Read a book. Go to a movie. Invite some friends over. Sometimes, just talking with a good friend can help. I know that for me, meditation seems to help.
“The forgiving state of mind is a magnetic power for attracting good.”
~~~ Catherine Ponder
Most of the time, these “time-outs” will help us to see what it is about the situation that destabilizes us, and we can make changes from there. If you believe in things like spirit guides or you have a spiritual counselor, then ask them for guidance to bring you back to a state of mind where you can begin to make whatever changes are needed. You need to see your own goodness — you need to see that you are actually okay.
When you find yourself in that state of mind where you’re thinking you’ve gone crazy, just realize that this is nothing more than a wake-up call to let you know that something in your life is out of balance. Remind yourself that you are capable of living in a peaceful reality. Remember too, that most people have felt that they are losing it at some time or other in their lives.
You are a worthy person. You are not crazy. Just take a step or two back and see whatever is going on as being outside yourself. Then, make the choices you need to make to get your state of mind where you will be in balance once again.
“Put yourself in a state of mind where you say to yourself, “Here is an opportunity for you to celebrate like never before, my own power, my own ability to get myself to do whatever is necessary.”
~~~ Anthony Robbins
Namaste!
And, as I always say in closing — remember these words …
You are the most precious gift you can give yourself. Every day look in the mirror and say, “I’m available to more good than I have experienced, realized or imagined ever before in my life!” Do this every day while you look into your own eyes.
You are special — and you are loved. You are the greatest gift you can be.
Shanti … (A sanscrit word meaning, “Let there be Peace. Peace, beautiful Peace. Peace within, Peace without. Peace in this world. Peace for all beings.”)
“Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.”
