Let Your Light Shine!
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”(Used by Nelson Mandela in his 1994 inaugural speech)
~~~ Maryanne Williamson
Last week I made a short comment about how affected I’ve been lately by the directions being taken by our government and by the corruption that is happening all around the world. I just read an interview that was done with Michael Moore about his new film, “Sicko”, where he talked about some of our leading candidates for the presidency and how deeply their pockets are being lined by the health industry. I hear news items almost everyday about good, honest, hard-working Americans being laid off and sacrificed because their jobs are moving off to some other country where workers are paid slave wages while the corporate CEO’s are fattening their own wallets to ridiculous degrees. I see the human rights given by our Constitution being eroded by the sneaky tactics of our government.
I could go on and on — but — as I also said last week, this blog isn’t a political blog — it’s about our inner self, peace, and spiritual balance.
So what is our action here? What do those of us who are the peace-makers of the world do about these things that bother us? Is there anything we can do?
The answer is, YES! We can quit hiding our light in a bushel and shift the thinking in our world by sending out our light. When people combine their intentions, great things can happen. A single individual can initiate worldwide improvement by a conscious outpouring of love, beauty, goodness, and wisdom. A group of people focusing their energy on sending out their light collectively to the world can set the stage for enormously positive global change.
Every one of us has the ability to positively influence human behavior by being conduits of the energy of love and peace. Rather than beginning our days with negativism, hatred, thoughts of violence and retaliation, imagine if each one of us took a few moments at the start of each day to send out light to the world from our hearts. Mother Earth would be quickly eased and the planet, as well as every organism and being on it, would be bathed in loving light. The world would be an infinitely beautiful place.
“Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness.”~~~ Martin Luther King, Jr
You can help bring about an earth where love triumphs over violence, air and water are nourishing in their purity, and people take pleasure in simply being alive. There’s no question that you have the power on your own, but think about how much more powerful you could be if you were joined by others who share your compassion and positive energy. The power of numbers! Your collective consciousness and collective light will wash over the planet, enveloping people, communities, cities, countries, and continents.
“Sure,” you say. “Easier said than done.” How do we get people to do this when they’re already convinced that our world is broken beyond repair? How do you get people to come to the realization that they CAN make a difference? You will likely need to explain that each person’s light joins with every other, and through the joining all are strengthened. Assure them that it doesn’t matter what technique is used — or what religion they follow, if any — or what set of beliefs they hold — what matters is that they have the intent to help, heal and bring peace.
It starts with us — you and me. If you and I do this, we are already a group, right? What if more of the readers agree and join with us? As more and more people come to see our example and follow our lead and join us in sending out light to the world, the gift will increase exponentially. There are universal laws that guarantee it will happen.
And, don’t forget the children in your lives. Children often don’t feel that they have the worth or the capability to have influence on anyone, let alone the world, yet they are reservoirs of innate power and will be enthusiastic partners. Just give them a chance. Be the person you would like them to be. Set the example. They’ll follow.
“We must view young people not as empty bottles to be filled but as candles to be lit.”~~~ Robert Shaffer
As more and more people begin to understand the power of their numbers to do good things, this wave of light and love and peace will become enormous and the results you crave will be there. Your own lives will change for the better — the news will begin to be more positive — and we’ll see major results in our fellow human beings.
“Only as high as I reach can I grow, only as far as I seek can I go, only as deep as I look can I see, only as much as I dream can I be.”~~~ Karen Ravn
And, as I always say in closing — remember these words …
You are the most precious gift you can give yourself. Every day look in the mirror and say, “I’m available to more good than I have experienced, realized or imagined ever before in my life!” Do this every day while you look into your own eyes.
You are special — and you are loved. You are the greatest gift you can be.
Shanti … (A sanscrit word meaning, “Let there be Peace. Peace, beautiful Peace. Peace within, Peace without. Peace in this world. Peace for all beings.”)
Thanks DebbieB — I agree. I’ve finally got to the point where if I want to catch up on the weather forecast, I go to the internet where I can get the weather without all the other awfulness.
I really appreciate your comment — and I also thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts. Now, let’s be what we want the world to be.
