Make Someone Happy — Be Kind Today!
“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children…to leave the world a better place…to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.”~~~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
I came across the picture you see on the blog today and found that it really moved me. The way I see the photo is of two hands touching — one of the hands is older — and the one is obviously very young. It struck me as such an image of compassion — of gentleness — of kindness.

As many of my readers know, I am an advocate for peace — for a kinder, gentler world, and in my opinion, I believe that kindness is the one tool we can use that is, by far, the easiest to use. I’m no different than the next person, though, when it come to remembering to use the tool of kindness. There are so many opportunities that come across our paths every day to be kind to someone, and we just miss them — we overlook them.
“I expect to pass through this world but once; any good thing therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now; let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.”~~~ Stephan Grellet
The wonderful thing about practicing kindness and gentleness is that it’s simple to do. All it takes is a word of praise for someone — even a stranger. Maybe it’s just as simple as a gentle touch – or a helping hand — or a moment of courtesy. It can even be as simple as smiling at someone as they pass you by on the street. These small, simple gestures of kindness and respect represent something even greater. They are a type of unconditional, unrestricted form of love that we are all free to give, or not give, as we choose. There are no strings attached to these small acts. We’re not demanding or expecting anything in return. It’s total giving. It’s a gift of kindness. This gift does two very important things — it sends out the energy of hope and happiness that warms your heart — and it warms the heart of the person on the receiving end of your gift.
Kindness is made up of compassion, respect, and generosity. We give kindness to others without checking first to see if they deserve it — we just give it, no questions asked. We all thrive on kindness. Sometimes, a sincere compliment can turn someone’s life around. If you hold the door for someone, it just may happen that person will turn around and hold the door for someone else — just because you reminded them of that kindness. Every kind act has a positive influence on the individual who has performed the act as well as on the recipient, regardless of whether the act is acknowledged. Kindness brings about more kindness and slowly but surely has a positive result on humanity.
“Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God’s kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile.”~~~ Mother Teresa
So, remember to make this simple act a part of your day, every day. It can be as simple as a hearty “Good morning” to your neighbor, or a stranger on the street or the cashier in the supermarket. Don’t worry about whether they’ll think you’re nuts — rather, just know that they’ll feel better for it — and so will you. When you perform an act of kindness for someone, you are, for that moment, away from being wrapped up in yourself. You have formed a momentary bond with the person who is benefiting from your gift. You are, for that moment, living fully IN that moment.
You may not realize it, but each and every act of kindness you offer does make the world a better place. It may be in a small way, but what if your act of kindness is picked up by others, and it spreads?
Wow!
“Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see”~~~ Mark Twain
And, as I always say in closing — remember these words …
You are the most precious gift you can give yourself. Every day look in the mirror and say, “I’m available to more good than I have experienced, realized or imagined ever before in my life!” Do this every day while you look into your own eyes.
You are special — and you are loved. You are the greatest gift you can be.
Shanti … (A sanscrit word meaning, “Let there be Peace. Peace, beautiful Peace. Peace within, Peace without. Peace in this world. Peace for all beings.”)

Hi Ron,
Thanks for reminding me to show kindness… Say “good morning”, “thank you”, etc… since I usually don’t bother to do it.
Kindness attracts kindness. That’s the way law of attraction works.

Thanks, Aldian — and thanks for the great website you have. I just spent some time over there and it’s fantastic. Hope plenty of my readers will stop by and check out your writing.
… And, you’re right about the law of attraction. If you think kind thoughts and follow them up with acts of kindness — you WILL attract more of the same to you. Great advice!
In Peace
