Meditation and Awareness
“Meditation brings wisdom; lack of meditation leaves ignorance. Know well what leads you forward and what holds you back, and choose the path that leads to wisdom. ”
~~~ Buddha
“Through meditation and by giving full attention to one thing at a time, we can learn to direct attention where we choose.”
~~~ Eknath Easwaran
As someone who has been practicing a buddhist lifestyle for several years, it is important for me to also practice meditating each day. This is something that I would highly recommend to anyone who needs to find a higher level of peace and tranquility in their lives.

When thinking of Buddhism or buddhists, it is not uncommon to also think of the word “yogi”. The word “yogi” means “to realize the wisdom of pure awareness.” To do this, the yogis of Tibet practice Tibetan Buddhist meditation techniques. They have gained a level of mastery that makes it possible for them to practice in isolation for periods of one to three years. During this time, they focus their complete attention on connecting with spirit and gain an extraordinary level of control over their minds and bodies.
No, don’t close this blog yet — I’m not recommending that you go into a cave somewhere and focus on one activity for a few years. What I am talking about in this article is that some of the principles that the yogis of Tibet practice can also apply to our lives.
It’s not outside the realm of reality for us to make it a priority to connect with spirit. Merely taking a few moments each day to focus our attention inward can open up a surprisingly fresh look at who we are and what we are about. The yogis don’t just study the practice of meditation or other spiritual disciplines, they also study science, philosophy, the arts, and medicine. If we want to expand our view of the world we could also make the effort to learn more about these aspects of life.
Another way that we could learn from the yogis is to learn to focus our minds on positive thoughts — thoughts that affirm the health of our Earth and the other occupants of our planet. Yogis chant prayers for the well-being of the world even while doing tasks that don’t require their full concentration. It is through chanting, positive thoughts, and meditation that we learn to have compassion, feel empathy, and look for the good in people and in every situation. We also become aware of our ability to create change in the world with our thoughts, actions, and intentions.
I recently read that the yogis of Tibet have been called “supreme artists of life” for their ability to treat every situation like a spiritual endeavor. Wouldn’t it be a worthwhile endeavor to emulate this way of thinking? We are certainly capable of expressing the same art of patience, compassion, and peace in our lives that the yogis do. Once we begin to do this we will see that we do radiate tranquility, warmth and joy — not at all unlike the yogis of Tibet.
To take a few moments each day for meditation is a good thing.
“In deep meditation the flow of concentration is continuous like the flow of oil.”

P.S. Here’s a website I thought you would be interested in. There are people manifesting their reason for being on this planet by using the 90-Day Manifesting Program. You can get your copy of this program — and any of the other guided manifesting meditations at my Enlightened Beings E-Store. Here’s what one person had to say about this …
“I have read through your Manifesting Vibration manual already and I must say of all the other material I have read on the same subject, yours is absolutely the most clear, free flowing, concise, and very informal “how to” product I’ve read!!! By just reading and taking notes of the various “choices” of exercise to implement on a daily basis, has made me very excited. I feel like I can do this, stick to it, and enjoy it! If you guys have anything else to share with the world please do!” ~Pamela Boney, Brooklyn, N.Y.
