The Easter time sort of crept up on me and I didn’t get a chance to let you know that I’d be “offline” for a week. My apologies for that. But, we’re back this week and ready to continue our look at “The Secret” and how to make it work for us. If you’ve been reading Ron’s Esoteric Thoughts” for the past few weeks, you’ll know that we’ve been digging into “The Secret” and some of the principles that make it work. It does take a bit more than just putting our focus on what we desire in life — it does take a bit more than paying attention to the clues about what actions to take. It also goes beyond merely taking action, although that’s a vital principle, we also have to be sure that whatever action we take has value, not only for us, but for others, as well.

That’s the third principle of “The Secret”. (Go back and read the last few posts on our blog to learn more about the first two principles.)

What do we mean when we say that our actions must have value for others? In answering that question, I’m going to use money in these examples. Let’s face it, most of the people who are showing great interest in “The Secret” are focusing on money — (at least I’ll bet that’s more true then not!)

Think about when you give money to others. What is it that moves you to part with your money? You give money when you pay bills, right? Why do you do that? Do you have a personal relationship with the electric company and you just feel charitable and give them some money every month? I suppose that could be, but I rather doubt it. Could it be that the electric company sat down and focused on accumulating money — asked the universe to provide? I guess at some point in time that may have been the case, but still, is that your motivation to give them money?

Isn’t it more likely that you give them money every month because they are giving you something that you feel is valuable enough for you to sit down and write them a check?

What’s another thing that will make you part with your hard-earned dollars? I know there are times when all of us give money because we love someone enough to want to give them a gift. But, we’re also receiving something of value here, aren’t we? That person we love is also loving us in return — and that’s a great value.

We might also give money to a charitable organization. Why would we do that? What’s the value to us? Maybe the value isn’t aimed directly at us, but we do perceive the value that the charity gives to others and that’s valuable enough for us to give up some of our own money — it’s a way we can add value, too.

If you turn this around, what does this mean if you are putting out to the universe that you’d like to have more money? The principle still applies — if you want money to flow in your direction, you have to be putting something out there that people perceive has a value equal to or greater than the value of their own money. Look at that again — whatever action you are taking to fulfill your desire for more money has to have a value to others that is great enough for them to be willing to part with their dollars. That’s the Law of Attraction!

This Law applies to whatever you desire, not just money. Do you want to be loved? Then you have to learn to love others, and show it enough for them to want to love you. Do want more respect from others? Good! Put it out to the universe that you’d like to be respected — then look for the clues as to what actions you should be taking — and then be certain that those actions will showing others that you truly respect them — act in a way that is deserving of respect — and respect will come back to you.

Here’s a great quote that I like that talks about one of my own great desires — the desire for world peace.

That makes it crystal clear, doesn’t it? World peace has to begin with me and I need to practice being peaceful with others — not just when I feel like it, but all the time.

One of the people that took part in the making of “The Secret” DVD — I think it was either James Ray or maybe Jack Canfield, said that the universe has plenty to fulfill all of our desires. It’s unlimited. There’s plenty there for everyone.And, it was also mentioned that you will always receive in proportion to what you give.

This is a question that bugs me — and I’d love to hear what any of you folks who are reading this think. What about people who may not have the skills to provide enough value to others to equal their own desires? I guess I’m putting this into the money and respect category. I know that anyone can give enough love to get enough love. But what about dollars? Does the Law of Attraction mean that if someone doesn’t have whatever it takes to increase their value to others, that they get left out? Does it really boil down to whatever value you are capable of providing sets the limit of the value (money) you’re capable of receiving?
